Johnson Controls Focuses on Simplicity for Coleman Commercial Products

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Johnson Controls is bringing Simplicity Smart Equipment controls to its Coleman brand of commercial packaged and split system products. Soon to be standard on all 3- to 40-ton packaged units, the updated Simplicity SE controls make equipment easier to install, operate and service and provide information that ensures a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system is performing to specifications.

Simplicity SE controls use an easy-to-read, built-in LCD display and navigation joystick to provide quick access to menus that display unit status, options, current function, supply, return and outdoor temperatures, fault codes and other information. This information ensures a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system is performing to specifications and provides opportunities to improve system performance, reduce energy costs and improve comfort.

Access to this information is enhanced by an optional wireless mobile access portal or hardwired networking capabilities, which allow several users to access one or many units using any device with Wi-Fi capability and a web browser and eliminate the need for expensive software or app downloads. Smarter control and equipment management comes with the ability to view and analyze operational and energy-use data, set-points, schedule and diagnostic data that can be accessed directly from a smartphone, tablet, laptop or onsite personal computer.

Versatile Simplicity SE controls can be configured to use with a standard thermostat, zone sensor or multiple building automation system communication protocols to integrate with BAS. Additional features include:

  • Factory-installed supply air, return air and outdoor air temperature sensors provide key temperatures to reduce field-installed complexity.
  • On-board USB port and flash drive provide data logging, current and previous system faults and software update capabilities.
  • Safety monitoring includes status of high-and low-pressure switches, gas valve and high-temperature-limit switches and voltage supplied to the unit.

All Simplicity SE controls are factory commissioned, configured and run tested.
