IAPMO’s Aguilar to Receive ANSI Meritorious Service Award

IAPMO Senior Vice President of Codes and Standards Development Hugo Aguilar, P.E., has been named a recipient of the American National Standards Institute’s Meritorious Service Award, which recognizes “significant contributions to the U.S. voluntary standardization system.”

Aguilar and other recipients of ANSI’s Leadership and Service Awards will be honored at the ANSI Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony, held during the 2026 ANSI Innovation Summit on July 29 in Denver.

Now in his 15th year with IAPMO, Aguilar leads the development of IAPMO’s flagship model codes — the Uniform Plumbing CodeUniform Mechanical CodeUniform Solar, Hydronics and Geothermal Code and Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Code. Under his leadership, these codes continue to reflect the latest technologies and best practices to advance public health, safety and sustainability in the built environment. In addition, Aguilar serves on a range of industry committees, reflecting his commitment to consensus-driven standards that balance the needs of industry, regulators and the public. 

“Hugo’s technical expertise, collaborative leadership and unwavering commitment to the consensus process have helped shape the future of codes and standards both within IAPMO and across the broader industry,” IAPMO CEO Dave Viola said. “His contributions have strengthened the foundation upon which safe, sustainable and resilient building systems are built.
