RIDGID Awards Four PHCC Scholarships
ELYRIA, Ohio — RIDGID has awarded four scholarships through the Educational Foundation of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors – National Association to students enrolled in plumbing-heating-cooling apprentice programs. PHCC administers the scholarship program, which is designed to attract new talent essential to the future of the plumbing and HVACR industry, and is also responsible for selecting the award winners. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $1,000 in tuition assistance and $1,500 in RIDGID tools.
“RIDGID is proud to lend our support to apprentices who are getting started in the trades,” said Steve Dyer, senior director brand marketing for RIDGID. “Through these scholarships, we can put professional tools in their hands and get their class costs paid – that’s a huge head start toward a successful career and we’re happy to be able to do it.”
The 2014 scholarship recipients are:
- Nicholas Bonnema of Sioux Center, Iowa graduated from Unity Christian High School in 2014. He is working part time at B&B Plumbing & Heating, Inc., and will be enrolling at Southeast Technical Institute for HVAC.
- David Haight of Brownsburg, Indiana is working full time at Steg Plumbing in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is enrolled at Mechanical Skills Plumbing Apprentice School.
- Daniel Kent of Ramona, California is working full time at PHCC member Black Mountain Plumbing in San Diego. He is enrolled in the San Diego PHCC Plumbing Apprentice Program.
- Scott Whitson of Anaheim, California is working full time at PHCC member Biard & Crockett Plumbing Service, Inc. in Orange, California. He is enrolled in the Orange County PHCC Chapter Apprentice Program.
