SMACNA Salutes 2016 Safety Achievers
CHANTILLY, Va. – A good safety record is essential for successful sheet metal and HVAC contractors. The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association recently recognized its top safety achievers in the United States and Canada through the 2016 Safety Excellence Award Program. The winners were recognized in October during SMACNA’s 73rd Annual Convention.
SMACNA also salutes the winners of the inaugural 2016 Canadian Safety Excellence Award Program and acknowledges the association’s top chapters with the highest level of survey participants.
The average number of reported injury or illness incidents, otherwise known as the OSHA incidence rate, was 2.41—the lowest rate ever reported for the safety survey program. The average reported experience modification rate, or EMR, was .78, slightly lower than last year and the lowest rate in the past decade.
