ASPE Executive Director/CEO Receives Sustainability Award from IAPMO

The American Society of Plumbing Engineers’ Executive Director/CEO William M. “Billy” Smith, FASPE, was recently named the 2025 Joseph Kneidinger Sustainability Professional of the Year by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials. The award was one of several honors presented during the opening session of IAPMO’s Annual Education and Business Conference in Palm Springs, California.

The Joseph Kneidinger Sustainability Professional of the Year award honors professionals who best fulfill or symbolize commitment to environmental sustainability. It is named in memory of Joseph Kneidinger, who made a significant impact through his continuing education and expertise in sustainable practices.

“I’m overwhelmed that IAPMO’s board of directors chose to honor me with the 2025 Joseph Kneidinger Sustainability Professional of the Year award,” Smith said. “Continuing a concerted effort toward sustainability is a focal point of our industry, so we can help ensure that future generations are provided with the critical resources needed to live a quality life.”
