Xylem Welcomes Global Water Center to Milwaukee through Donation, Partnership

MORTON GROVE, Ill. — Xylem Inc. played a key part in opening the Global Water Center in Milwaukee, Wis., through its donation of pumps and products used in the building’s HVAC systems. The Global Water Center is a first-of-its-kind facility backed by The Water Council that is helping to position the Milwaukee region as a global capital of freshwater research and technology.

“When we spoke with The Water Council about the construction of the Global Water Center, we knew Xylem had to be a part of it,” said Mark Handzel, vice president, product regulatory affairs, and director, HVAC commercial buildings, for Xylem’s Applied Water Systems business unit. “Our compact and easy-to-install booster pump set efficiently provides essential pressurized water to all seven floors of the building, ensuring the businesses, researchers and water support organizations have the infrastructure they need to complete their work.”

Xylem demonstrated its commitment to providing water systems expertise and solutions to leading organizations by teaming up with its Milwaukee-based distributor, Hydro-Flo Products Inc., to donate a Goulds Water Technology AquaBoost variable-speed pressure booster pump. The product was installed before the center’s grand opening on Sept. 12. The company also provided products from its Bell & Gossett brand for use in the building’s heating and cooling systems, including two series 80 and two series 60 in-line pumps with triple-duty valves, an expansion tank and air vents.

“Xylem was an important partner in transforming a century-old warehouse into a world-class water technology and business accelerator,” said Dean Amhaus, president and CEO, The Water Council. “We were very pleased to be approached by a company with such a strong global reputation as Xylem that wanted to play a big part in bringing together and assisting water technology professionals.”

The Global Water Center houses 25 organizations that include a mix of international corporations, academic institutions, startup businesses and support organizations. The facility is located at 247 Freshwater Way, Milwaukee, Wis.
