Unico Introduces Vertical Air Handler for Small-Duct Systems

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Tucked away in a closet, homeowners will appreciate the new vertical air handler from Unico, Inc., which offers efficient, quiet operation even in hard-to-cool areas. The air handler can easily be installed in closets, basements or mechanical rooms.

“Maybe we should call this unit an ‘invisible’ air handler. The customer will hardly know it’s there,” said Scott Intagliata, marketing director for Unico.

Modular horizontal and vertical styles have been the standard offering for many years at Unico. The new configuration allows contractors an additional choice for installation. The new vertical unit is available in 2-, 2.5- and 3-ton sizes, depending on the capacity needed.

The air handler is the heart of the Unico System, a small duct, high-velocity HVAC solution. The new vertical air handler is a single cabinet with a blower and heat pump coil. A hot water coil can be added to this mix or a hot water only unit can be ordered.

Contractors and homeowners can select a standard refrigerant-based heat pump (will heat and cool) coil, a refrigerant-based cooling only coil, chilled water coil, hot water coil or electric-based heating module.

The Unico vertical air handler is available with the Green Series S.M.A.R.T. Control Board, a more efficient, electronically commutated motor.

The new vertical air handler is now available in the U.S. and Canada.
